Mohandas Pai slams Karnataka Govt over Bengaluru’s failing infrastructure, urges action

Bengaluru, October 27, 2024: Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai has ramped up his criticism of the Karnataka government after recent heavy rainfall in Bengaluru revealed severe infrastructure issues. Pai’s remarks came in response to Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s praise of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for prioritizing citizens’ welfare amid challenges with securing central funds.

In a recent post on X, Rao lauded Karnataka’s economic contributions, pointing to its substantial tax revenue and resilience despite allegedly not receiving its full GST share. He credited Siddaramaiah’s leadership for launching citizen-focused initiatives.

Mohandas Pai slams Karnataka Govt

Pai acknowledged Karnataka’s economic role but questioned the government’s performance, especially in Bengaluru. “What have you done for Bengaluru over the last 18 months?” Pai asked, citing increased corruption and worsening living conditions. Rao countered by inviting Pai to support Karnataka’s demand for a fair GST share, suggesting Pai’s criticism overlooked the financial constraints determined by the Finance Commission.

Pai further amplified his concerns in an October 24 post, tagging CM Siddaramaiah and senior ministers. He highlighted “huge anger” over inaction on issues such as road maintenance, drainage, and traffic on the Outer Ring Road, urging immediate government intervention. “Sad day for all of us to have such a non-performing, callous government,” Pai concluded, underscoring the rising public dissatisfaction with Bengaluru’s infrastructure challenges.
