Interacting with reporters on the sidelines of this meeting, Moily said that the government has only announced that 123 taluks are affected by the drought, but has done nothing to ease the sufferings of the people of these taluks. He further said that the government has totally neglected the drought-hit taluks because it is engrossed in internal clashes for the post of CM.

Alleging that the state government failed to show interest even when a team from the centre arrived to study the situation, he said that it has woken up only now that the situation has worsened. He further alleged that the state has not even sent a report of the situation to the centre.

Simultaneously, he also appreciated Sadananda Gowda’s move of touring drought-hit taluks in an attempt to understand the situation better.

In response to a reporter’s query regarding the centre’s efforts to tackle the problem, Moily said that the centre has released Rs. 129 crore, but the state has failed to utilize it properly.

Speaking on the PU lecturers’ boycott of valuation, Moily said that this can create problems for students planning to appear for the CET. Urging the government as well as the teachers to think of the students, he said that the government must satisfy the teachers’ demands to solve the problem.

About the Devadiga Global Foundation

One of the objectives of the proposed Devadiga Global Foundation is to assist students who lack the financial ability to pursue higher education and also to help the poor get quality medical care.

All Devadiga associations across the globe will be affiliated to this foundation.

Moily was welcomed to the meeting by community leaders such as Dharmapal Devadiga, Raghu Sherigar, Dinakar Attavar, K. Mohandas, Dinesh Devadiga, and others.
