Moodubidri Parish celebrates Ruby Jubilee and 35th ICYM anniversary

Moodubidri, Jan 12: A solemn mass was offered in celebration of the Ruby Jubilee of the Corpus Christi Church Parish of Moodubidri and the 35th year of its ICYM unit on Jan 9, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, the vicar general of the Mangalore Diocese, was the main celebrant with Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres, the parish priest; Rev. Fr. Mark Walder; Rev. Fr. Ronald Sanctis SJ; and Rev. Fr. Maxim Cardoza OFM Cap concelebrating. Over 1000 devotees participated in this event.

Mangalore MP Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel visited the church just before mass and wished all the parishioners well. A stage programme was held after mass with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, the vicar general of Mangalore Diocese, presiding. The chief guests were K. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA of Moodubidri, and K. Amaranatha Shetty, the ex minister. The dignitaries on the dais were Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres; Fr. Mark Walder, the ex parish priest; Mr. Norbert Martis, the vice president of the parish council; Mrs. Celine D’Souza, the secretary of the parish council; Mr. Jossy Menezes, the vice president; and Mrs. Rita Rego, the secretary; Mr. Ashwin Branks, the ICYM president; and Ms. Sonia Miranda, the ICYM secretary.

Fr. Mark Walder, the ex vice presidents and secretary of the parish council, and the ex presidents of ICYM were felicitated on this occasion. Prizes were distributed among the winners of the competitions organized by the parish organizations. This was followed by a cultural programme, the highlight of which was “Amka Lottery Utlya” a drama. Supper was served to all present.
