Mulki: Speeding lorry causes serial mishap; 3 including cop injured

Mulki, Dec 07, 2023: A rash and negligent driving by a lorry driver resulted in a serial mishap and injuries to three persons including a cop on the National Highway 66 near Mulki Junction on December 7, Thursday.

The speeding lorry jumped the divider and entered the service road in the process hitting a scooter and an autorickshaw.

The scooterist Sangappa (57), a watchman of an apartment near Bappanadu sustained serious injuries in the mishap. Mangaluru North traffic cop Geetha (42) and autorickshaw driver Dharmendra (35) were also injured and hospitalized.

The lorry driver who was speeding had tried to avoid hitting the barricades near the junction and in the process the vehicle had jumped the divider.

Several labourers who were sitting on the roadside ran helter-skelter on seeing the speeding vehicle.
