Mangaluru, Dec 21, 2016: Munnur village in Mangaluru taluk is expected to go cashless in the days to come thanks to an initiative jointly taken up in the village by Nitte University, Syndicate Bank and Munnur Gram Panchayat.
Speaking after inaugurating an awareness programme in this regard, Nitte University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde said the scheme should not be viewed from the political angle but from the angle of the future well being of the nation. He also stated that the cashless scheme would benefit the poor population.
MP Nalin Kumar who launched the intiative said it was a welcome development to see students take up a door to door campaign in support of cashless transactions. Pointing out that Balpa village is the first village in the district to go cashless he said the initiative of Nitte University to make Munnur too cashless was welcome.
NK Tingalaya, former Chairman of Syndicate Bank, Roopa R Shetty, President of Munnur GP, MS Moodittaya, Nitte University Registrar and others were present.
