Mangalore, Sep 26, 2013: The mystery behind the ‘bomb threat’ to the Mangalore campus of IT major Infosys at Kottara on September 26, Thursday, has been solved. If there was panic at the campus which was evacuated soon after an anonymous caller reportedly said that a bomb has been planted at the campus ,the situation has calmed down now.
What has been gathered of late is that the confusion was owing to a wrong call. As per information available, the call was made by a domestic help employed at the residence of Kotiprasad Alva at Jail Road, Kodialbail. When Alva was away, the maid who intended to dial a number to Mumbai had actually pressed the number of the Infosys Mangalore campus. The unknowing maid asked the person at the other end if it was ‘Bombay Bombay?”
Meanwhile, the Infosys staff Hannan from Kerala, who did not understand the words of the lady had misinterpreted it as ‘Bomb Hai’ creating all the confusion. Even police had rushed to the spot with a Sniffer Squad and bomb defusal squad and had evacuated the building.
Situation has returned to normalcy now and all staff are back on duty.
