Udupi, November 23, 2024: Police sources have revealed that the slain Naxal leader Vikram Gowda and his team had some time back travelled by train from Subrahmanya to Murdeshwar and then had proceeded on the forest path.
Investigations have revealed that around Lok Sabha election time, the Naxals had spent most of the time in Koojumale, Kadamakallu, Subrahmanya and Bilinele region and had even visited some houses located on the edge of the forests and had collected grocery items. Later they had arrived at the Subrahmanya Railway Station at Nettana and travelled towards Murdeshwar.
After alighting at Murdeshwar they had trekked towards Kollur in the forest area and then had come to Karkala, Hebri area. They were spotted at Eedu just a few days before the encounter at Peethabailu.
Police sources said during train travel they had managed to keep their identities a secret by hiding their weapons.
