Naxal encounter case: Villagers protest as local resident Jayanth Gowda taken into custody

Hebri, November 22, 2024: Villagers of Peethabail in Nadpalu village of Hebri picketed the local police station on Friday to protest against the police taking into custody a local resident named Jayanth Gowda as part of the investigation into the Naxal encounter that led to the elimination of Naxal leader Vikram Gowda.

On Friday, Hebri police who visited the spot, took Jayanth Gowda to custody. As news spread, leaders of the Malekudiya community as well as villagers rushed to the police station and demanded release of Gowda stating he was innocent.

Station House Officer Mahesh T has assured to speak to the higher-ups. However, villagers are adamant and are still in front of the police station.

Nadpalu GP Chief Naveen Kumar, Hebri GP Chief Taranath Bangera and others are among those who gathered in front of the police station.
