New Konkani website ’Kittall’ launched

Mangalore, Feb 6, 2011: A new Konkani website, www.kittall.com, the brainchild of Henry Mendonca of Pernal was inaugurated by Melwyn Rodrigues of Daijiworld Media Private Limited, at a special function held at Sandesha on Feb 5, Saturday.

The purpose of the website is to awaken Konkani people by providing them quality literature and usher in social change.

 

In his address, Melwyn Rodrigues appreciated Henry Mendonca for starting a Konkani website to spread creativity through writings, discussions, dialogues, critiques, and others.

Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the director of Sandesha Foundation, was the chief guest of the event. Releasing a printed booklet called “Kittall,” he said that a new revolution has begun with “Kittall.” Stating that daijiworld.com has done an excellent job of uniting Konkani speakers all over the world, he lauded H. M. Pernal for starting a Konkani website without any commercial motive.

The guests of honor were Bastin Vaman Shenoy and Roy Castelino.

Speaking about his website, H. M. Pernal said that it is meant to provide a common platform for writers, poets, thinkers, critics, and the general public to express their views and comments. Stating that society is immersed in corruption and is devoid of moral values, he said that writers have the responsibility of changing society and keep people informed about what is really happening in the world.

Victor Mathaias Karkal delivered the welcome address; Titus Noronha was the MC; and Joachim Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
