Voicing his opinions about the development of Car Street, Deputy Speaker and Mangalore MLA N. Yogesh Bhat said that the developed Car Street is a 50-year-old dream come true. He said that the authorities were able to complete the project in time owing to a grant of Rs. 100 crore sanctioned by the state government.

 

He said that the successful completion of the Car Street road-widening project can be placed on record because the workers had completed it a day before the deadline.

 

He also said that he had placed a proposal before the CM of issuing health insurance scheme to five crore people including APL card holders, adding that the state government must give a response about meeting the expenses of this scheme.

 

MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash said that the people residing in Car Street were very generous in giving up their land for the development of the city. He also acknowledged the active role played by V. Ponnuraj, the former DC of DK, in this project.


Mangalore City Corporation Mayor, Rajani Dugganna, Deputy Mayor Rajendra, Corporators Mamatha Shenoy, Ranganath Kini, Surekha Srinivas and Congress leader Ashok were present on the occasion.
