Mangaluru, Nov 27, 2014: The Coastal Development Authority now has a new President. Nivedith Alva, son of senior politician Margaret Alva has taken charge as the Authority Chief at the CDA office in the city on November 27, Thursday.
Nivedith Alva who has earlier been the KPCC Secretary, spoke to reporters after taking charge and said he would decide on his future course of action as CDA Chief after due consultations with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials on the various developmental needs of the region.
Thanking the Congress for giving him an opportunity to be the Authority Chief, he said the tourism potential of the coastal regions can get a boost once the 44 beaches see development. He also pointed out that the state government which was keen on developing beaches has already written to the Centre with a request to relax CRZ norms.
He said the social media would be effectively tapped by the Coastal Development Authority to reach to the masses.
Mahabala Maarla, Mangaluru Mayor, JR Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South, Suresh Ballal, former MUDA chief and others were present.
