Mangalore, Feb 4, 2014: Gold rush continues at the Mangalore International airport with the detection of yet another case of smuggling. On February 3, Monday, Customs officials at the airport seized gold worth Rs 14 lakhs which was in the form of 107 foil strips hidden in ladies stocking retail packs.
The gold was found in the suitcase of one Abdulla Harris Mukkunnoth Pallikunhi who had arrived by an Air India Express flight from Dubai on Monday evening. The gold weighed 464.750 grams and valued at Rs 13,98,602. The passenger hailed from Kasargod.
Investigations are underway.
