Nursing faculty airs woes with Union Minister

Mangalore, Jan19,2013 : A delegation of nursing faculty of various nursing colleges in Mangalore, led by PV Abhilash, Senate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, met Union Minister of  State for Labour and Employment Kodikkunil Suresh on January 18, Friday and discussed the various problems faced by nursing professionals in Karnataka.

The delegation drew the attention of the minister towards the fact that  Kerala  Nursing Council was refusing to register nurses who have studied in Karnataka and added this would have a bearing on admission in nursing colleges in Karnataka.


The delegation further pointed out that nursing teachers are facing job uncertainty due  to  various reasons including declining number of admission of students to the institutes.


It was also brought to the notice of the minister that the Indian nursing council has not fixed any pay scale for nursing teachers further adding to the problem.
