Bengaluru, March 29, 2025: Considering the demand for nursing graduates outside India and the need for them to be proficient in the languages of the respective countries, the Medical Education Department has decided to set up Foreign Language Labs in the nursing colleges.
Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil said this at the inauguration of a new physiotherapy building at Dr B R Ambedkar College of Physiotherapy on Friday.
“We have decided to set up Foreign Language Labs (in nursing colleges) to boost the global job prospects,” he said.
The minister said that the demand for skilled nurses and allied health professionals is growing internationally.
“We are being approached by hospitals in Germany, Italy, Japan and UAE for immediate recruitment of trained nurses and allied health sciences students. However, these hospitals require candidates to be proficient in their native language of that respective Country. Considering that, we are taking necessary steps to equip students with such language skills,” the minister explained.
Dr Patil said the students would have the option of learning German, Japanese, Italian and English in the Foreign Language Labs during their course.
Congress MP and treasurer of the institution Radhakrishna Doddamani and Governing Council member V S Kuber were present in the programme.
