Mangalore, Dec 5: Former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake’s new office, situated at City Arcade in Bendoorwell, was inaugurated on Dec 5, Saturday.
Oscar Fernandes, former union minister and senior Congress leader, inaugurated the office and said: “We must adopt the qualities of sacrifice and hard work in order to attract the people’s attention to the party.”
He said that the Congress, which will celebrate its 125th anniversary on Dec 28, 2009, has the power to prevent economic crisis in India. The task of nationalizing the banks, which is now being done by Western countries, was done by Indira Gandhi forty years ago. The Congress is responsible enough to work for the welfare of the people. The party supports progress in all fields and works for the good of the people, he said.
Vinay Kumar Sorake made the welcome speech and said that the office has been established in its current location because it is more convenient for the people. "The Congress office is like a temple; so people are free to visit and spend as much time as they like there," he said.
Blossom Fernandes, the wife of Oscar Fernandes; U T Khader, MLA of Mangalore, Moideen Bawa, President of DCC Minority Wing; Mamatha Gatty, ormer president of the Zilla Panchayat; and other corporators were present at the inaugural ceremony.
