Mangaluru/ Udupi, April 16, 2025: Over 30,000 students have registered to appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET), for admission to engineering and other professional courses, at 66 centres in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, on Wednesday and Thursday.
As many 22,525 students have registered to write the test in 43 centres in Dakshina Kannada and over 8,000 students have registered to appear for the test in 23 centres in Udupi district.
On Wednesday, the Physics test will be held between 10.30 a.m. and 11.50 a.m., while the Chemistry paper will be held between 2.30 p.m. and 3.50 p.m. On Thursday, the Mathematics test will be held in the morning and Biology test will be held in the afternoon.
The CET began on Tuesday, with as many as 549 students, who are claiming eligibility under ‘Gadinadu’ (Kannadigas living in states bordering Karnataka) category, wrote the Kannada test at Government PU College, Balmatta, in Mangaluru, which was one of the centres.
Dress code
For the first time, the Karnataka Examination Authority has prescribed dress codes for students. They have been asked not to wear full sleeves. Boys have to wear simple shirt/t-shirt and pants with minimum or no pockets. They cannot wear kurtas, pyjamas or jeans. Shoes will not be allowed inside the examination hall. There is bar on wearing earnings, finger rings and bracelets.
Girls have been asked not to wear jeans. High or bulky heels have been barred. They can wear only sole slippers. Except ‘mangalasutra’ and ‘kalungura’ (toe ring), no other ornaments will be allowed for girls in the examination hall, the KEA has said.
