Mangalore, Nov 13: The Popular Front of India (PFI) organized a national-level health campaign, “Health Awareness Marathon,” from Jyothi Circle to the DC’s office on Nov 13, Friday. Abdul Latheef, the state president of PFI, inaugurated the marathon at its starting point at Jyothi Circle.
Ismath Fajeer, the author, made a speech in front of the DC’s office and said: “Although diabetes is not infectious, it is not less dangerous that other diseases.” He said that people’s addiction to junk food has led to ill health. Owing to wrong eating habits, people suffer from diabetes and other health-related problems from a young age.
Abdul Razak Kemmar, the state committee member of the PFI, was the chief guest of the event. He said that the health campaign, which commenced on Nov 1, will conclude on Nov 15. He said that people’s mental health is just as important as their physical health and plays an equal role in building a healthy nation.
A M Athaulla, the general secretary of PFI made the welcome speech. Imthiyaz, the secretary of PFI, delivered the key-note address. Anwar Sadath, the president of PFI, presided over the event.
Later, Narayan Shetty, the president of Pathanjali Yoga Shikshana Samithi, spoke about various asanas while Yogeesh, a member of Pathanjali Simithi, demonstrated them on the platform.
