Beltangady, Dec 6: Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar inaugurated the long awaited Quality Control Lab of Public Works Department, Port and Inland Water Supply at the Inspection Bungalow at Belthangady on Sunday.
In his inaugural address, Palemar said having a quality control labs in the district will go a long way in maintaining standard and quality of roads and development works. Palemar said there were plans to open 14 such labs in DK, Udupi and Kodagu districts and added that of these eight would be opened by this year end.
The minister, on this occasion also assured that projects that were delayed due to untimely rains, would soon be completed. This year 120 roads of the district will be developed using the Rs 100 crore grant from the government,he said. While 120 new buildings would be constructed, 4000 old buildings will be repaired, he said and added a sum of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation of Subrahmanya Temple.
Dr V S Acharya, State Home Minister, Raghupathi Bhat, MLA of Udupi, Vasantha Bangera, MLA of Belthangady and Baby, President of Belthangady Town Municipal Council were present on the dais.
