Mangalore, Jan 28, 2014: The Padayatra “Kadri Manjunathanedege Namma Nadige” organised by the Prajaprabhutva Vedike from the residence of Sowjanya at Pangala to the Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple at Kadri in Mangalore concluded on January 27, Monday. The Padayatra aimed at sensitizing the public on the need to fight for justice in the Sowjanya rape and murder case.
Speaking at the Kadri shrine upon conclusion of the Yatra, Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram said the Padayatra was organised as a last resort as the Government has failed to ensure justice in the case despite repeated appeals and various protests. At the same time, he said the faith in in the Almighty has not diminished though the developments of late have made them lose faith in the administration.
Mahesh Shetty Timarody, District President of Prajaprabhutva Vedike who also spoke on the occasion alleged that political forces with due help of officials were trying to close down the Sowjanya case, the investigation of which has not seen any development even after the government handed over the case to the CBI.
He said his Vedike was also planning another Padayatra in Belthangady. He further added there was no question of bogging down until justice is secured in the case.
