Parashurama statue row: Sculptor Krishna Nayak arrested in Kerala

Karkala, November 11, 2024: Krishna Nayak, The sculptor of the controversial Parashurama statue which was installed in the Parashurama Theme Park at Bailur in Karkala, has been arrested in Kerala.
The arrest followed the rejection of the bail petition of Nayak in the Udupi Additional District and Sessions Court. Following the rejection of bail, police launched a search for him and he was traced in Calicut.
Krishna Nayak, through his Krish Art World had secured Rs 1.25 crores from the Udupi Nirmithi Kendra for sculpting a bronze statue to be installed at the park.
Later a complaint was lodged in Karkala Town Police Station by Krishna Shetty of Nalloor alleging that Nayak had cheated the government by creating a fake bronze statue of Parashurama by not using bronze to sculpt it.
