Police Commissioners asks residents to be vigilant against cyber frauds during New Year

Mangaluru, December 30, 2024: Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has urged the residents of the city to be vigilant and cautious as there are possibilities of cyber fraudsters targeting people on the occasion of New Year.
He said there is a possibility of fraudsters sending New Year messages in APK files to mobile phones and the links when pressed may lead to hacking of mobile phones and then leading to large-scale sending of such APK files from that mobile phone.
The Commissioner has asked public to immediately delete any messages they receive in the form of APK files. Even if such APK files are received from known WhatsApp numbers the same must be deleted. Anyone falling victim must immediately call 1930 or lodge a complaint at www.cybercrimegov.in, the Commissioner said.
