Police have clues regarding Ilyas murder accused : Commissioner T R Suresh

Mangaluru, Jan 13, 2018: City Police Commissioner T R Suresh has informed that the Police have gathered clues regarding the accused in the murder case of Ilyas (32), the kingpin of the notorious Target Group. Ilyas was hacked to death in a apartment at Jeppu Kudpady on Saturday morning.

The Commissioner who spoke to reporters after visiting the mortuary of a private hospital where the body of Ilyas has been placed, said the rivalry that sparked following a split in the Target Group is suspected to be the reason behind the murder.

On Saturday morning at around 8, the Ilyas’s wife had gone to the hospital, while her mother, Ilyas’s brother and his two year old son were at home. At around 9 am, someone had knocked the door. When the door was opened, an assailant who barged in had stabbed Ilyas, the Commissioner informed.

The Commissioner said the Target Group had split between Dawood and Safwan group eventually culminating in the murder.
