Mangaluru, Mar 29, 2021: Prasad Attavar of Sri Rama Sene has been arrested by the police on the charges of cheating a lecturer of Mangalore University by making a false promise of securing the Vice Chancellor’s post, after securing money from the latter.
It is learnt a lecturer named Vivek Acharya had come into contact with Prasad when the latter had made the former believe by showing many photographs of him along with dignitaries and had said he can get any work done.
It has been alleged that the accused had demanded Rs 30 lakhs from Acharya with a promise to get him the VC post of Raichur University. Later he had pressurized Acharya to pay him Rs 17.5 lakhs and had secured three blank cheques for the balance amount. However when Acharya sought the money back the accused had reportedly threatened him following which a complaint was lodged in Kankanady Police Station.
