Mangaluru, March 22, 2025: A procession was taken out on March 21 from near Venkatramana Temple at Carstreet upto the residence of slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga to commemorate the ninth year of the tragic incident of the murder of Vinayak Baliga and to demand justice to his family which is still waging a relentless fight for justice. The jatha was held under the aegis of Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkoota.
Later a meeting was held at the residence of Baliga wherein the speakers urged the government to consider this case seriously and ensure justice. They also said it was the duty of the government to see to it that the culprits do not escape from the noose of law.
Senior rationalist Prof. Narendra Nayak who has been extending active support and co-operation to the family of Vinayak Baliga in their fight for justice, CPM District Secretary Muneer Katipalla, Vinayak Baliga’s sisters Anuradha and Harsha, Guruvayanakere Nagarika Seva Trust’s Somanath Nayak, senior physician Dr P V Bhandari, former mayor K Ashraf, Samarasya president Mangala Nayak, social activist Vidya Nayak and others took part.
