Punjalakatte: Woman dies, 2 injuries as car plunges into areca plantation

Punjalakatte, October 14, 2024: A woman died while two others sustained injuries after the car in which they were travelling went out of control of the driver and fell into an areca plantation located in a low lying area at Bambila on the National Highway connecting B C Road to Belthangady during the early hours of October 14, Monday.

The deceased is Bhagirathi (58) from Kodialbail in Mangaluru. The car driver Roopesh (50) has sustained serious injuries while his wife Suchitra (33) has suffered minor injuries.

The car which was proceeding from Punjalakatte met with the mishap at a curve near the Bambila mosque at around 4.30 am.

Bhagirathi, her daughter Suchitra and son-in-law Roopesh were travelling in the car. Roopesh resided in Tumkur. Bhagirathi had been to her daughter’s house in Tumkur for Dasara and she was returning hometown when tragedy struck.
