Puttur, Jan 18, 2024: A woman was found dead in a water tank near her house at Kaikara in Olamogaru village of Puttur taluk on January 17, Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased is Shubhalaxmi (50), wife of Prakashchandra Rai, President of Kumbra Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Society. The water tank was located in a hilly area near the house and closed with tarpaulin. It is suspected that Shubhalaxmi who had gone to the hill might have slipped and fell inside the tank and died as no one was nearby.

The woman’s daughter had been to college, while husband was away when the incident took place. Her son is employed in Bengaluru.

Puttur Rural Police have registered a case.

Former MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and other BJP leaders  consoled the grieving family members.
