Puttur, August 24, 2024: An incident occurred late Thursday night in Doddadka, Aryapu village, Puttur taluk, where miscreants set fire to a shop, causing damage to the property. The shop, owned by Sankappa Poojari, a resident of Doddadka, was set ablaze, resulting in significant loss. Sankappa Poojari used to run a small grocery store and tea stall in the location. He would conduct his business daily until evening before closing the shop and heading home. As usual, on Thursday evening, he closed the shop and went home. However, someone set fire to the shop late at night, leading to the complete destruction of the goods inside.

The Sampya police visited the site, conducted an inspection, and are currently investigating the incident.

Attempt to Set Fancy Store on Fire

In another incident that occurred late Thursday night, miscreants attempted to set fire to a fancy store located in the Mai De Deus Church building in the city. The store, named "Black Diamond," is owned by Rafique. It is reported that a person wearing a helmet poured petrol on the store’s shutter and set it on fire before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, since the shutter was closed, there was no major damage inside the shop. The reason behind the act of arson is still unknown.
