Puttur: Senior citizen dies after truck rams his scooter

Puttur, April 27, 2025: A two-wheeler rider died after a lorry collided with his vehicle from behind on the main road of Puttur city, in front of the Mai De Deus Church, on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Francis Lewis (74) from the outskirts of Puttur city, specifically Kemminje.
Reports state that Francis Lewis was riding his Activa scooter from Kemminje towards Mai De Deus Church when a lorry, traveling from Darbe towards Mangaluru, rammed into his scooter from behind near the church. Francis Lewis, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, was rushed to a hospital in Puttur by the Deputy Mayor of the Puttur City Municipality, Balachandra Kemminje, along with others. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Based on a complaint filed by Joseph D’Souza, a case has been registered at the Puttur Traffic Police Station.
