Puttur, Aug 24, 2023: A young woman who was stabbed by a man near the Women’s Police Station in Puttur town during broad daylight on August 24, Thursday, has succumbed while she was being rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The woman has been identified as Gowri (18) of Alike in Vittal. The accused youth Padmaraj of Naibelu in Maninalkur village has been arrested.

The youth had stabbed the girl on the road leading to the Puttur Mahalingeshwara Hospital. He had stabbed the girl in her neck multiple times before fleeing as soon as she collapsed.

The girl who was first rushed to Puttur Government Hospital was later taken in an ambulance towards Mangaluru. However, she died enroute.

SP Rishyanth C B has confirmed the arrest of the accused.
