Mangalore, Feb 6, 2012: Rahim Uchil took over as the new president of the Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy at a formal ceremony organized in the office of the academy at Presidium Complex, Attavar on Feb 6 Monday.
In his address, he declared that he will not let himself be swayed by any politics while performing his duties. Assuring that everything will be peaceful as long as he is in office, he said that he will go the extra mile to promote, protect, and preserve Beary language and literature.
M. B. Abdul Rahman, the outgoing president of the academy; Anwar Manippady, the president of the state minority commission; Monappa Bandary and Padmanabha Kottari, the BJP leaders; Usman Haji, the chairman of the District Wakf Advisory Committee; Abdul Raheem T. K. the founder of the Kendra Beary Sahithya Parishad; Abdul Masjid, the president of the Akhila Bharat Beary Parishad; and many others were present.
Umarabba delivered the welcome address while T. Mohammed proposed the vote of thanks.
Uchil was the general secretary of the BJP DK District Yuva Morcha unit, the convener of the Veerarani Abbakka Utsava, member of the district Wakf advisory committee; and general secretary of Manava Sauharda Vedike. Moreover, he is involved a number of organizations.
