Railways to operate Mahakumbh special train between Udupi and Prayagraj

Udupi, February 14, 2025: Responding to the request of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, the railways has decided to operate a special train (train on demand) from Udupi to Prayagraj on February 17 and from Prayagraj to Udupi on February 20, to clear extra rush of pilgrims visiting the Mahakumbh Mela.

Train No. 01192 Udupi-Tundla Mahakumbh Special departs Udupi at 12.30 p.m. on February 17 to reach Prayagraj at 6.25 am on February 19 and then Tundla Junction at 1 p.m. the same day. Train No. 01191 Tundla-Udupi Mahakumbh special departs Tundla Junction at 9.30 a.m. on February 20 and Prayagraj at 6.25 p.m. to reach Udupi at 6.10 p.m. on February 22, said a notification from Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd.

En-route, Train No. 01192 departs Barkur at 12.44 p.m., Kundapura at 12.58 p.m., Mookambika Road Byndoor at 1.32 p.m., Bhatkal at 1.52 p.m., Murdeshwar at 2.06 p.m., Kumta at 2.32 p.m., Gokarna Road at 2.52 p.m., Karwar at 3.50 p.m. and Madgaon at 5.50 p.m. The train travels via Panvel, Nasik Road, Bhusaval, Itarsi, and Manikpur before reaching Prayagraj.

Train No. 01191 arrives Madgaon at 1.30 p.m. on February 22, Karwar at 2.40 p.m., Gokarna Road at 3.02 p.m., Kumta at 3.22 p.m., Murdeshwar at 3.56 p.m., Bhatkal at 4.12 p.m., Mookambika Road Byndoor at 4.38 p.m., Kundapura at 5.10 p.m. and Barkur at 7.28 p.m. before reaching Udupi at 6.10 p.m.

The train will have one 2-tier AC, five 3-tier AC, 10 second class sleeper, two each general second class and luggage-cum-brake van and a pantry car (in locked condition) coaches, in all 21 ICF coaches.

Advance reservation for the services is likely to commence from Friday.
