Mangaluru, February 1, 2025: Prasad Attavar, chief of Ram Sene, a right wing group, is accused of making animal sacrifice to give strength to Snehamayi Krishna, the complainant in the MUDA case, and another RTI activist Gangaraju.

The alleged sacrifice came to light during the investigation by the Mangaluru police into the alleged ruckus created by Ram Sene activists at a saloon near KSRTC bus stand in Mangaluru on January 17, in which Prasad Attavar and 13 others were arrested.

In the complaint in a suo motu case, Police Inspector J.C. Somashekara said during technical analysis of a mobile phone of Attavar, the police found a video sent by Attavar to one Prasad Bhat. The video showed sacrifice of five goats to a diety. Garlands were seen on the deity. Those garlands had photographs of Mr. Krishna and Mr. Gangaraju. Blood stains were seen on their photographs.

The complainant further mentioned about chat conversation between Attavar and Prasad Bhat related to animal sacrifices. Attavar sent a photo of a bag filled with currency notes to one Suma Acharya on December 7, 2024. He also sent the same photo to Prashant Bangera, Harsha Mysuru, and Anant Bhat on December 8, 2024. Mr. Harsha, on December 9, 2024, sent Attavar a photo and a video of his interaction with Mr. Krishna, Mr. Gangaraju and one Srinidhi, the complaint said.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal told reporters on Friday that some of the videos and photos were in the mobile phone of Attavar and police retrieved some related videos and photos that had been deleted from the phone.

It appears Attavar has got the occult practice done for the benefit of Mr. Krishna and Mr. Gangaraju. The Mangaluru North police registered a case

suo motu for offences under Section 3(2) of Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act 2017, he said.

Attavar is presently admitted in the Government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for treatment for a heart ailment. The police will file an appeal to court seeking police custody of Attavar. “We have to question him to know more about the animal sacrifice and other details, including roles of other persons named in the complaint,” Mr. Agrawal said.
