Mangalore, Sep 7, 2013 : Well-known scholar and epigraphist Srinivas H Ritti was conferred the first Rashtrakavi Govind Pai Award  at a function  held at the  Nutana Ravindra Mantap of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi on September 6, Friday.

The Award has been instituted by the Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Samshodhana Kendra, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi, Academy of General Education, Manipal.

 
The Smt T Vimala V Pai prize of Rs one lakh was presented to Srinivas as  part of the Award.

The jury for selection of the awardee included eminent writer UR Ananthamurthi. Ananthakrishna, ex-officio chairman of Karnataka bank unveiled the portrait of Vimala Pai. A talk on Govinda Pai was delivered by Taltaje Vasanth Kumar.
