Mangalore, Feb 19, 2013: Villagers of Kuppepadavu near here staged a Rasta Roko agitation on February 19, Tuesday under the aegis of the JD(S) in protest against the deplorable condition of the 2.5 km stretch of road leading to Boliyakke from Kadakeri in Kuppepadavu village. The agitators demanded immediate repair of the road.
Addressing the protestors, B Nagaraj Shetty, State Vice President of the JD(S), alleged that the BJP leaders of Karnataka who were involved in infighting were least bothered about the welfare of the people. He said Tuesday’s protest is being held on apolitical lines after villagers were fed up of the apathy of the authorities despite their several appeals.
He also warned of a NH bundh agitation near Edapadavu if the demand was not fulfilled. Gram Panchayat President Chandrahas Shetty and Vice President Pushpa Nayak met the agitators, accepted their memorandum and assured early steps to repair the road.
JD(S) leaders Sureshchandra Shetty, Sudarshan Shetty, DM Aslam, CPI(M) leader Sadashivadas and others took part in the protest.
