Rider dies in bike-ambulance collision at Kaup

Kaup, Mar 13, 2023: Kaup, Mar 13, 2023: A bike rider, who was seriously injured after an ambulance knocked down his bike at Kaup succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The accident had taken place on Sunday March 12.

 

 

 

The deceased is identified as Rithesh Devadiga (35), son of Shekhara Devadiga and Subhadra Devadiga couple, residents of Kampa near Ucchila Narayanaguru Road.  

The ambulance was heading to Mangaluru from Udupi while Rithesh was  heading towards Udupi. The tragedy is that the ambulance was not carrying any patient and was just going casually. But the negligence of the driver cost Rithesh his life.

The asphaltation work at Kaup had led to  diversion of traffic and vehicles were moving on a single lane.

Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon who visited the spot, took the contractor to task for  undertaking repair works without proper planning.

The ambulance and its driver have been taken into custody by the Kaup police.
