Rohith Chakrathirtha felicitation event cancelled following objection

Mangaluru, June 25, 2022: A felicitation programme for writer and former president of the now dissolved Textbook Revision Committee Rohith Chakrathirtha  which was scheduled to be held in the city today has been cancelled by the organisers following opposition expressed by some organisations.

 

As per an invitation, the programme was organised by ’Chintana Ganga’ and another organisation named Sevanjali Charitable Trust with which Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas  Kamath is associated with it.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof P S Yadapadittaya was to preside over the function. But there was opposition to the function by DYFI, some Billawa leaders and organisations  more so because Chakrathirtha was recently involved in a controversy over offending Rashtrakavi Kuvempu and also the state anthem.
