Rs 500 crores to be released immediately to reinstate damaged basic infrastructure: CM

Manipal, July 13, 2022: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that a  sum of Rs 500 crores will be released as an immediate measure to reinstate basic amenities and infrastructure that have been damaged across the state  during the recent heavy rains.

He was addressing the media after attending a review meet on rain losses in the three coastal districts, at the Manipal ZP  Auditorium on July 13, Wednesday.

The Chief Minister said a comprehensive report on rain loss would be secured from all districts and then sent to the Centre to seek relief under NDRF.

Today’s meeting held two hour long deliberations on the flood situation in the coastal districts, the CM said.

Rains during this month is excessive than usual and so far 32 lives have been lost and five are missing. Thirty four have suffered injuries and 300 people are sheltered at Kalaji Kendras. Four NDRF  and four SDRF teams are working towards flood relief in the state, the CM said.

Flood hit people who are not in Kalaji Kendras will also receive kits at their doorsteps.  Affected people will also be provided eggs, he added.
