SC/ST Development Officer caught red handed by Lokayukta

Mangalore, Nov 4: SC / ST Devopment program officer in-charge S Gullayya, son of Siddegowda, resident of Tumkur was caught red handed by the Lokayukta officials on Wednesday November 4, while accepting bribe of Rs 4000 from Vamana Koraga Nayaka of Dandekeri in Beltangady Taluk.

Vamana Koraga Nayaka, who had applied for a loan at the District SC / ST Development office for installing a borewell in his village. An amount of Rs 86,000 was sanctioned and he was given Rs 36,000 at the first stage. Later, Gullayya demanded Rs 5000 from Vamana to release balance Rs 50,000 to him. After the long debate, Gullayya settled for Rs 4,000/- to release the balance amount.  Vamana took this opportunity to teach him a lesson and complained to the Lokayukta.

The Lokayukta privided special currency notes to Vamana to give to Gullayya. Gullayya was caught red-handed bythe Lokayukta officials while taking money from Vamana. Gullaya was taken into custody by Sadananda Varnekar, in-charge SP, Lokayukta, Mangalore.
