SIO protests against violation of child rights

Mangalore, June 11: The Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) on June 11, Friday, staged a silent demonstration in front of Masjid Noor in a bid to enhance educational awareness. Dozens of SIO activists stood in front of the mosque holding large placards after the afternoon prayers for around 20 minutes. Although the demonstrators did not speak a word, the placards they held spoke volumes against violation of child rights and child labour. 

 

 

 

 

Some of the slogans were: “Education is the birth right of every child,” “eliminate the practice of child labor,” “child labor is a crime,” children are not your servants,” and so on. The placards stopped traffic at least for a few minutes. 

An SIO office bearer told reporters that the existence of child labour in spite of strict laws against it prompted SIO to organize this education awareness demonstration.
