Mangaluru/Udupi, March 21, 2025: The SSLC annual examinations for the academic year commenced on Friday, March 21, with 29,760 students registered in Dakshina Kannada district. The exams are being held at 92 centers, utilizing 1,332 classrooms, with all necessary arrangements in place for smooth conduct. The exams will continue until April 4.

Among the candidates, 28,446 students are appearing for the first time. Additionally, 831 private candidates, 259 repeaters, and 217 private repeaters will also be writing the exams. The first-time examinees include 14,735 boys and 13,711 girls.

To ensure security and transparency, all examination centers have been equipped with CCTV surveillance. A total of 1,678 cameras have been installed across the 1,332 classrooms designated for the exams. The examination process is being monitored by 2,057 officials and staff. To safeguard the transportation of question papers from the treasury, 34 police personnel have been deployed, while 184 officers are stationed at the examination centers for security.

In terms of zonal distribution, Bantwal has 6,007 candidates, Beltangady 4,204, Mangaluru North 5,443, Mangaluru South 5,182, Moodbidri 2,006, Puttur 4,926, and Sullia 1,992.

In Udupi district, 14,153 candidates have registered, including 13,798 first-time students—7,152 boys and 6,646 girls. The exams are being conducted across 51 centers, utilizing 590 classrooms. CCTV cameras have been installed in all examination halls to enhance security. Additionally, 12 officials are assigned to webcasting surveillance, while three district-level security teams and seven special task forces—one per taluk—are overseeing the examination process.

The first paper of the SSLC board examination commenced at 10 AM, with 272 schools from Udupi district participating. Examination centers have been equipped with adequate water, ORS, and first-aid facilities. Students entered the halls following all regulations, and question papers were distributed promptly. Parents extended their best wishes to their children.

On the first day, students are appearing for their First Language paper. Most Kannada-medium students will take Kannada, while students from other mediums will write their respective language papers. The district administration, zilla panchayat, and the Department of School Education and Literacy have implemented all necessary measures to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.

For student convenience, examination centers have displayed registration numbers along with classroom details outside the premises. Inside the exam halls, desks have been marked with students’ registration numbers.

A prohibition order has been enforced within a 200-meter radius of the exam centers, and photocopy shops will remain closed during the exam period. Only students and exam staff are allowed inside the centers. Students can avail of free travel on KSRTC buses by presenting their exam hall tickets, and KSRTC officials have been directed to maintain bus schedules accordingly.

Strict security measures are in place to ensure fairness. Students are prohibited from wearing clothing that conceals their identity. Metal or non-transparent water bottles are banned. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, pen drives, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, and calculators are strictly prohibited. Additionally, items like log tables, handbags, purses, notes, torches, or recording devices are not allowed inside the examination hall. Candidates wearing hearing aids will undergo special screening before entering the exam hall.
