MP’s Appeal:

On the morning of July 19, MP Captain Brijesh Chowta wrote to SWR, urging immediate operation of special trains to assist those affected by the closure of the Shiradi and Sampaje Ghats on the main Mangaluru-Bengaluru routes. He highlighted the impact of landslides near Sakleshpur, which blocked NH 75, and near Karthoji, affecting NH 275. The local administrations have restricted vehicular movement on these highways, stranding thousands of people.

Chowta’s proactive communication with railway officials ensured a swift response, culminating in the introduction of these special train services to alleviate travel difficulties between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
