Mangaluru, January 3, 2025: The MBA students of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management organised a thought-provoking panel discussion on the theme ‘Dr. Manmohan Singh – Architect of Indian Economic Reforms’. The event highlighted the transformative contributions of Dr. Singh across diverse fields, including economic reforms, technological advancements, urban development, employment planning, education, healthcare reforms, the Narasimham Committee-I, and foreign policy initiatives.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Jayavantha Nayak, Professor of Economics at University College, Mangalore, commended the students for their in-depth presentations and their enthusiasm for India’s economic progress. He emphasised that the robust foundation of the Indian economy today can be traced back to the pioneering reforms introduced under Dr. Singh’s leadership.
Reflecting on Dr. Singh’s remarkable career, Dr. Nayak acknowledged his pivotal role in shaping India’s IT revolution and lauded his efforts, which have resulted in technological advancements such as the proliferation of ATMs in rural areas. He also shared valuable insights on personality development and congratulated Mr. Sudamshu, a first-year MBA student, for creating a live portrait of Dr. Singh during the session, showcasing both talent and dedication.
