Mangaluru, Dec 18, 2016: Just a few days ago it was reported that the tourism department had decided to dedicate Sasihithlu beach exclusively for surfing with an aim to develop tourism in the area, locals raised an alarm after the sea water reportedly turned a blackish colour here on Dec 17, Saturday.
It is also gathered that also hundreds of dead fish were washed ashore. The locals who have also complained of a foul smell have blamed a fish meal company that has been discharging certain effluents into the Arabian Sea thereby polluting the beach. Sasihithlu beach happens to be an ideal location for various surface water sport activities. An international surfing festival was organised at the beach in the month of May earlier in year.
