Scooter rider dies in hit-and-run incident in Mangaluru; Co-rider injured

Mangaluru, October 13, 2024: A tragic incident occurred on Friday night in Marnamikatte when a car collided with a scooter, resulting in the death of the scooter rider. The deceased has been identified as Sachin (29), while his co-rider, Nireeksha(14), sustained injuries.

On Friday night, Sachin and Nireeksha were riding their scooter from Shaktinagar towards Mangala Devi when they reached near the post office in Marnamikatte. A car coming from the opposite direction reportedly hit their scooter due to the driver’s reckless speeding and then fled the scene.

Both Sachin and Nireeksha fell onto the road and were taken to a private hospital in the city by bystanders for treatment. Sadly, Sachin was declared dead upon arrival, and Nireeksha suffered an injury to his left shoulder. Nireeksha’s father, Anoop, has filed a complaint with the police, stating that the driver did not stop after the accident and fled.
