Senior Athlete Jyothi Shetty meets tragic end in road accident

Udupi, June 11, 2018: Senior athlete Jyothi Shetty who has won numerous medals in national and international events, has met a tragic end in a road accident near Ambagilu.

Jyothi who was critically injured in the mishap which took place on June 9, Saturday succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.

Fifty year old Jyothi was riding pillion with her bother when the mishap tool place. She and had brother were returning after helping an acquaintance who had met with an accident and had called Jyothi for help. It is learnt the bike which Jyothi’s brother was riding skidded resulting in the mishap.
She is survived by her husband Uday Shetty, a son and a daughter. Jyothi had won two medals in Asia Masters Athletic Championship at China last year and was prepearing for the World Championsip to be held in Spain in September.

She had also won ten medals in various national level events in 2011.
