Bengaluru, April 11, 2023: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader KS Eshwarappa on Tuesday said he would not contest the upcoming Karnataka election. In a letter to BJP Chief JP Nadda, Shivamogga MLA said he was withdrawing from electoral politics. The move came amid growing speculation about the party’s delayed announcement of candidates for the polls.
Meanwhile, BJP may release its first list of candidates for the May 10 Assembly elections by elevating today.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that the BJP’s first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections on May 10 will be released either on Tuesday or Wednesday. Bommai also clarified that there is no confusion regarding finalizing the list. Earlier in the day, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had announced that the first list of candidates for the 224-member Assembly would be released by the evening. However, he later clarified that more clarifications were required from BJP’s national president, J P Nadda, and that the list would be cleared soon.
