Mangaluru, May 16, 2023: Senior Congress leader and former minister B Ramanatha Rai has announcement his retirement from electoral politics. At the same time he said he would be actively participate in party activities.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress office on May 16, Tuesday, Rai thanked the people of Karnataka for their huge support to the Congress party helping it to form the next government in the state.
He said though the Congress has suffered a setback in Dakshina Kannada district, that should not deter party workers and they need to strive for the party’s victory in the local body polls as well as the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.
He said he has lost the election this time despite getting more votes than last time. He said he will conduct an introspection regarding his defeat.
Rai said he would accept any responsibility the party bestows on him. He also said the party’s government will fulfill all the promises made to the electorate.
Party leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Rakshith Shivaram, Shashidhar Hegde, Lancelot Pinto, Naveen D’Souza and others were present.
