Sexual harassment of minor: Youth gets 20 years RI

Udupi, July 14, 2022: The POCSO Fast Track Court of the District Additional and Sessions Court has sentenced a person to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on the charges of sexually abusing a minor after promising to marry her.
The convict is Kiran(28) of Kodavoor. It was alleged that he had befriended the 16 year old girl and had even recorded his immoral act on his phone and had abused the girl several times.
It is learnt, Kiran’s sister had also assured the victim that her brother would marry her.
Following a complaint by the girl’s family the police arrested Kiran and his sister. Both were later released on bail.
If Kiran has been convicted his sister has been acquitted as charges against her could not be proved.
The court has also ordered the convict to pay Rs 4 lakh as compensation to the victim.
