Shivadhwaj Shetty promotes new art movie ’Gaggara’

Mangalore, Jan 30: “The Tulu theatre has developed more than the Tulu film,” said sandalwood actor and director Shivadhwaj Shetty during a press conference organized at Hotel Goldfinch on Jan 30, Saturday to promote his brand new Tulu film “Gaggara: Sound of Culture.”

Mr. Shetty informed press people that the movie comprises only paddanas, and no film songs. The story is powerful; however, the quality and length of the movie is weak compared to other movies. In spite of the movies shortcomings, Mr. Shetty hopes that its strengths would fetch a national award because “Gaggara” is an art film, not a commercial film.

“Gaggara,” which has been produced by Durganand, revolves around the tale of a small family of husband, wife, and son. The son works as the impersonator during the five-month Bhootakola season and wanders around in search of a job for the rest of the year.

The majority of the producers believe that “Gaggara” will become popular only if it includes 4 – 5 songs. Disagreeing with them, Mr. Shetty says that the film will achieve success because of its strong story line.

Speaking about his career, he admitted that acting and directing simultaneously is very difficult. One should concentrate on either acting or directing, and not do both together, he said. He urged producers and directors to work hand-in-hand to create more films and telecast them in open theatres in order to reach out to a larger number of people.

Actor Suresh Rai was also present during the press conference.
