Snehalaya and Janamaithri Police launch anti-Drug awareness drive at Uppal and Hosangadi

Kasaragod, April 19, 2025: In order to create awareness against the increasing drug abuse in the society, emotional street plays and mime programs were organized at Uppal and Hosangady bus stands under the joint auspices of Snehalaya De-Addiction Center, Manjeshwar Janamaithri Police Station and Kasaragod District Police Officers’ Association.

The main objective of this program was to clearly introduce the long-term effects of drug use, especially on the youth community, to the public. The students of Social Work (MSW) of Mangalore University participated enthusiastically in the program along with the Snehalaya team and artistically presented their message to the public and won the attention of the audience.

 

 

 

 

Among the distinguished guests who attended the program were Kasaragod District Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shri P. Balakrishna Nair, Circle Inspector (CI) of Hosadurg Police Station Ajith Kumar, CI of Manjeshwar Police Station Shri Anup and Executive Director of Snehalaya De-Addiction Center Shri Joseph Crasta.

 

 

 

During the conversation, the police officers expressed their concern about the lack of basic facilities to provide proper treatment to the youth who are addicted to drugs in Kasaragod district. In this context, they praised the excellent services that Snehalaya has been continuously providing for the last 15 years. They also expressed their happiness about the Snehalaya De-Addiction Center, which is equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, which has been established by this organization recently.

Speaking at the end of the program, Mr. Joseph Crasta explained the various treatment modalities available at Snehalaya, individual rehabilitation programs, and companionship services along with family responsibilities. He made it clear that he is committed to the loyalty and service spirit that Snehalaya is engaged in to build a community free from the addiction of drugs.

At the end of the ceremony, the public, employees, parents and students watched this socially responsible program of the Snehalaya team with great enthusiasm and congratulated all the artists wholeheartedly.
